100 YEARS OF FUNERAL SERVICE
Watts Funeral Home began operation in July of 1926 when Paul Isaac and Henrietta Watts moved to Madill from Lindsay, Oklahoma, to open a much-needed funeral home in this area.. P.I., as he was known to his friends, began his business with a store-front type of funeral home in the immediate business district of Madill. In 1936, Mr. Watts constructed a two-story colonial-style building some two blocks from the original business, and that second establishment is the central portion of our funeral home today. We added a 250-seat chapel in 1960, dedicated to Paul Watts as the Watts Memorial Chapel. Additional offices were added in subsequent renovations to complete the transformation from a 1930’s operation to the current modern facility.
Paul’s son, Wendyl Watts, along with his wife Robbie Lee, took over the day-to-day operation of the funeral home in the mid 1930’s and continued in this capacity until his son Bryant Watts completed his mortuary training in 1968 and returned with his wife Sharron to assume an active role in the firm’s management. Bryant continues to oversee the daily operation of Watts Funeral Home with the assistance of his sons, M. B. and Brad Watts, who have been associated with the firm since 1991 and 1995 respectfully. Watts Funeral Home is now in its fourth generation and is still wholly owned and operated by the Watts family. We are not affiliated with any funeral service corporation.
In a move to better serve the Marshall County community and surrounding areas, we made the commitment to construct a new funeral home at Kingston, Oklahoma, approximately seven miles southeast of our original Madill facility. Completed in July of 1997, we feel that the Kingston facility is an outstanding addition to the Watts tradition of funeral excellence.
With 90 years of funeral service in our past, the management and staff of Watts Funeral Home look forward to serving the needs of our present and future generations. We have been here for our friends and loved ones since Paul Watts moved here in 1926 and we plan to continue to be here, caring for our friends and their families, for many years to come.
