Bud
Hill
March 17, 1930 – November 26, 2019
Services with military honors for William D. "Bud" Hill of Marietta, Oklahoma will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 2, 2019 at the Marietta First Baptist Church with Pastor Shane Norton and Lawrence Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in the Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Marietta. Family visitation will be on Sunday, December 1, 2019 from 4-6 p.m. at Flanagan-Watts Funeral home.
The son of Lee H. Hill and Annie Belle Moseley, Bud was born on March 17, 1930 in the Bomar Community of Love County, Oklahoma. He made his journey to heaven on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 in Mercy Hospital, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 89. Bud has been a resident of Love County all of his life.
He married Ada Bess Presley in Madill, OK on March 7, 1952. Bud served two years in the United States Army as a member of the Medical Company 34 th Infantry Regiment during the Korean War. He obtained the rank of Sergeant on December 24, 1953 and was honorably discharged on February 11, 1954. For his service he was awarded the United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal; National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal.
After his service in the U.S. Army Bud worked as a paint contractor, retiring at the age of 80. Bud and Jim worked together as Bud and Jim Hill Paint Contractors for over 50 years. They were considered one of the elite painters in the Ardmore area. Bud and Jim were known for their sense of humor and were quite the jokesters, always having a story to tell on someone they had pranked. Slick/eye catching vehicles were always a part of Bud's household, and dual exhausts were a must. Vehicles were kept clean and shiny year round. Bud was known for his immaculate yard and all red Christmas lights in December. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he always thought of others first and his love was steadfast. Having a sweet tooth always led to "what's for dessert." The family realizes this is a genetic trait that has been handed down to others! Bud enjoyed listening to many types of music with his favorite two being country and western; growing tomatoes in the summertime/bragging about them and doting on his Boston Terriers. Bud and Ada Bess were faithful members of the First Baptist Church in Marietta.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Travis Hill; a sister, Mary Bell King; a granddaughter Addey Beth McGill; and daughter-in-law, Beverly Hill.
Survivors include son Paul Hill of Owasso, Oklahoma; daughter, Scotty Beth Phelps and husband Billy of Sulphur, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Tracy Paul Hill of Stockton, California, Ashton Reed and husband Kyle of Marietta, Austin McGill and wife Bailey of Marietta and Garrett Hill of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and five great-grandchildren, Alliee, Aidenn, Bexley McGill; Wyatt and Whitley Beth Reed.
Serving as pallbearers are Austin McGill, Bill McGill, Kyle Reed, Tracy Paul Hill, Garrett Hill, Todd Graves, Corey Johnson, Jason Sampley and Brad Phelps. Honorary pallbearers are Jim Bob Campbell, Jim Hill, Jerry Graves, Bill Dvorak, Jim Ramey (of the VA Center), Joe Pete Martin, Huck Hill and Vance McGill.
For those wishing to make memorial contributions, the family suggests the Baptist Children's Home in Madill, Oklahoma.
