Verna Marie Welch, 98, of Kingston, Oklahoma passed away Sunday, May 24, 2009 at the Marshall County Medical Center in Madill. Verna was born February 25, 1911 in Blue Mountain, Arkansas to the late Charlie Gilliam and Ada Fennell Gilliam. She grew up in Blue Mountain and in 1926 she moved to Seminole and later moving to California where she worked at the Rohr Aircraft building bombers. In 1945 she moved to Healdton where she lived until 1956 when she moved to Stillwater. She married Howard Barnes on April 6, 1930 in Tecumseh, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on May 19, 1955. She later married Albert Welch on September 11, 1957 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on September 15, 1995. In 1959 she lived in Medford before moving to Oklahoma City in 1970. Verna moved to Woodward in 1975 before moving to Kingston where she lived the rest of her life. She enjoyed cooking, eating, talking, visiting and enjoyed being with all he friends. Verna was a member of the First Baptist Church in Kingston. She is survived by: Sons: Don H. Barnes, Kingston, Oklahoma Dwight Barnes and wife; Joyce, Mead, Oklahoma David Barnes and wife; Ellen, Kingston, Oklahoma 8 Grandchildren: Suzanne Barnes, Kingston, Oklahoma Becky Brown, Belton, Texas Danny Barnes, Dallas, Texas Mike Barnes, Hurst, Texas Jon Barnes, Round Rock, Texas Mark Barnes, Newport News, VA Susie Cammarata, Clarksburg, Maryland David M. Barnes, Clarksburg, Maryland 13 Great Grandchildren Verna was preceded in death by her parents 1st and 2nd husband, 2 sisters and 2 brothers.
