Jonathan James of Ardmore, OK, was born January 15, 1959, in Talihina, OK, the son of Jonas and Lucinda Early James. He passed away Saturday, February 13, 2010 in the Purcell Municipal Hospital, Purcell, OK, at the age of 51. A former resident of Marietta, Mr. James had made his home in Ardmore for the past year. He and Josephine Griffith were together for a number of years and were united in marriage in Marietta on October 31, 2008. A Native American artist, Mr. James enjoyed all types of artwork including metal crafts, jewelry and drawing. The couple owned Giant Indian Art & Native Trades and traveled the powwow trail with their artwork. As a young man Mr. James played basketball at the East Fork Mission and to this day was an avid sports fan, especially of the Kansas Jayhawks, the Kansas City Chiefs and the Royals. Mr. James was preceded in death by two brothers, Darryl James and Jeremiah James. Survivors include his wife, Josephine James of the home; father, Jonas James of Wright City, OK; mother, Lucinda James of Liberty, MO; son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan David Naltazan "Jon Boy" and Angela Palacios James of Albuquerque, NM; daughter, Hollie Crystal "Gayle" James of Liberty; stepson, Lukas Raleigh Steiner of Denton, TX; two stepdaughters, Kellee Ray of Boynton Beach, FL and Desiree Michelle Steiner of Lewisville, TX; brother and sister-in-law, Johanson and Lori Ann Clanin James of Kansas City, MO; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Joyce Laverne James of Liberty, Iris and Gary Conway of Houston, TX, Ireta and Lonnie Bond of Broken Bow, OK, and Jonell James and Jakki James of Joplin, MO; half brother, Javier James and wife, Angela of Broken Bow; half sister, Joni Newsome of Fresno, CA; seven grandchildren, Chad Alexander Olah, Cassidy Rose Ray, Connor Ray, Liam Ray, Demesia James, Aiyanna Jade Wells and Azaria Jenai Vereen.
