Obituary

Surrounded by his wife and daughters, SMSGT (Ret. United States Air Force) AJ Watson passed away on Friday, March 11th at Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus, Oklahoma. AJ was born on February 12, 1932 in Madill Oklahoma to Oscar and Alvaree (Robinson) Watson. He married Mary Gardner on October 22nd, 1955 in Madill Oklahoma. He joined the U.S.A.F. in 1951 and went on to serve for the next thirty years. Korea, Thailand and North Africa were among the places where he served. AJ was a member of the Baptist church and was ordained a Deacon in the church in 1957. After his years of service he went on to attend college at Cameron University. He graduated with a Bachelor's degree in history in 1984. AJ was a wonderful and loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife Mary of Altus and six daughters, Sheree Wells and her husband Adrian of DeSoto Texas, Robin Robinson of Las Vegas, Nevada, Jacqueline Watson of Altus, Pamela Watson of Oklahoma City, Annette Jaye Watson-Patten of Norman and Suzanne Watson of Wichita Falls, Texas. AJ enjoyed spending time with his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Their grandpa always made time to attend their athletic and school events. He is survived by 19 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. His surviving siblings are brothers Trenton and Donnie Watson of Madill, sisters Alvaree Adair, Estina Seals, Genevieve Williams and Patricia Fields all of Madill and Helen Gordan and husband Isaiah of Ardmore. He was preceded in death by his parents. He was also preceded in death by brothers Neil, Alfred Orlandor, William, Arthur Wade, Solon and Oscar (Tebee) Jr. and sisters Winamae, LaVada and Betty Jean and grandsons Jaden and Jordan Gibson.
