Oteka Delores (Wilson) Little died December 20, 2011 in Madill, Oklahoma, at the age of 98. She was born November 30, 1913, in Lebanon, Oklahoma, the oldest child of John Jack Wilson and Nannie Olah (Butler) Wilson and was the sister of Jack Weldon Wilson. After graduating from Murray State College and beginning to teach school, Oteka married Reuel Winfred Little on March 29, 1934, and had five children: James Winfred Little, Charles Jackson Little, Dr. Oteka Ann (Little) Ball, Dan Vincent Little, and Janna Lou (Little) Robbins and reared Reuel Edwin Little as her own from early childhood. Despite the tragedies of losing James at the age of 6 to polio, and Reuel Edwin at the age of 12 by freak accident, and the challenges of Jack being born with severe mental and physical handicaps, or perhaps because, Oteka had the greatest gifts of understanding and giving unconditional love, which in turn gave her the power and strength each day to be delightfully optimistic, fun, and cheerful and resulted in her being absolutely adored and deeply appreciated by her family, friends, and especially her children and grandchildren. Oteka was the guiding light for good in her marriage of 59 years to Reuel, who predeceased her December 1, 1993. Together they built Camp Jack Little for the Deaf on Lake Texoma, the first camp for deaf children in Oklahoma, and founded the Jack Little Foundation which has financially assisted hundreds of deaf children and children born with cleft lips and cleft palates across Oklahoma and now the world. Oteka is survived by seven grandchildren: Jeremy Daniel Ball, Oteka Lyn (Ball) Bernard, Carrie Christine Boren, David Daniel Boren, Janna Christine (Little) Ryan, Dana Suzanne (Little) Jackson, and Mary Catherine "Molly" (Little) Olcott, and thirteen great-grandchildren: Caymen Btai Bernard, Atticus Jeremy Bernard, Elizabeth Anne Ryan, Charles Wilson Ryan, Samuel Lowery Ryan, William Covington "Cov" Jackson, Jr., Amelia Prudence "Ellie" Jackson, Zachary Gardner Jackson, Aidan Frederick Olcott, Mary Sophia Olcott, Daniel Douglas Olcott, Janna Lou Boren and Hunter Daniel Boren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Oklahoma School for the Deaf, the Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics, the Madill Church of Christ, Oklahoma Baptist University, the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation or charity of choice.
