Oleta Jane "Buck" Burkham, 90 of Kingston, Oklahoma passed away Thursday, July 3, 2014 at the Brookside Nursing Center in Madill. She was born on December 10, 1923 in Kingston, Oklahoma to the late Fritz Jirl Buck and Cora Jane Baker Buck. Oleta was raised in Kingston where she graduated high school at the age of 16 in 1940 as Valedictorian. She later attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University before going to work at the Oklahoma State Capital in the Land Department. Oleta later worked for Keeton, Wells, Johnston and Lytle law firm in Oklahoma City. She married Charles Franklin Burkham on September 18, 1945 in Oklahoma City. He preceded her in death on March 25, 2005. Oleta also worked for Terry Shipley law firm in Noble, Oklahoma before retiring and moving to Kingston in 1984. She worked as a bailiff for Judge Scaggs and was very active in the First United Methodist Church in Kingston. Oleta enjoyed her dog J. B., crocheting, needle point, and loved bookkeeping and income tax preparation. She is survived by: Brother: Bill Buck and wife Gayle, Madill, Oklahoma Several nieces and nephews: Margaret Coxsey and husband David Vicki Arnold and husband Royce Terri Buck Jirl Buck and wife Brenda Brett Carter and wife Lacey Cass Carter Oleta was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers; Homer and Carl Buck and 2 sisters; Geraldine Dillard and Edwina Dabney.
