Harold "Hal" Edward Cochran, 81, of Kingston, Oklahoma passed away Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at the Mercy Memorial Hospital in Ardmore. He was born on August 6, 1933 in Garvin, Oklahoma to the late Dan Samuel Cochran and Hattie Batchelor Cochran. Hal was raised in Idabel, Oklahoma where he graduated from the Idabel Gray High School. He was very active in basketball, football and ran track. He later attended Oklahoma State University and received a degree in Electrical Engineering. After college he started his career in radio at KSEO radio station in Durant, Oklahoma where he received the National Honor as Mr. DJ USA. Hal married Donna McKinnon on May 19, 1970 in Gainesville, Texas. He and his wife owned and operated KMAD, KITX, KDDQ and KBEL radio stations. They built, owned and operated KKAJ and KKBI. He retired in 2000. He was a member of the Lions Club, Jaycee's in Ardmore and was a big Republican supporter. Hal enjoyed fishing, playing golf, singing, song writing and just music in general. He is survived by: Wife: Donna Cochran, Kingston, Oklahoma. Children: Larry Cochran, Kingston, Oklahoma Kevin Cochran, Plano, Texas Robbie Cook and wife Debbie, Atlanta, Georgia Grandchildren: Canyon Cook, Atlantic, Georgia Jordan Cochran, Healdton, Oklahoma Noah Cochran, Kingston, Oklahoma Brother: Johnny Cochran, Broken Bow, Oklahoma Sisters: Nona Sanders, St. Joseph, Missouri Carol Wolf, Mineral Point, Wisconsin Ann Lynch, Broken Bow, Oklahoma Hal was preceded in death by parents, 1 brother; Curt Cochran and son: Dean Cochran.
