Obituary

Ralph Elton Yeats, 91 of Coleman, Oklahoma passed away Thursday, March 5, 2015 at his home in Coleman. He was born on August 7, 1923 in Purden, Texas to the late Joe Alver Yeats and Mary Lue Burditt Yeats. Ralph attended the Friendship school in Pilot Point, Texas during the depression. He never complained because he was unable to complete school due to a large family of 9 siblings. Ralph was a worker. If something needed to be done or your family needed you, you did it. He jumped a train at the age of 17 after leaving a CCC camp and traveled from Madill to California with a bootlegger to the ship yards. He met and married Mary Elizabeth Jackson on December 18, 1943 in Durant, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on June 28, 2014. They were married for 70 years and had 4 children. Ralph served in the United States Coast Guard as a Merchant Marine during WWII. He was proud of his service to his county and only spoke of the many countries he visited. Ralph crossed the equator several times, he loved the sea and his wife. He worked as a carpenter his entire life and was a member of the Carpenter Association. He is survived by: Children: Lonnie Yeats, Phoenix, Arizona Marshall Yeats and wife Brenda, Mannsville, Oklahoma Renee Hankins and husband Joe, Coleman, Oklahoma 11 Grandchildren: Steven Yeats, Micheal Yeats, Rayman Yeats, Shannon Kemp, Melissa Hutchens, Kenny Pickens, Charlote Cooley, Robert Lock, Amber Pickens, Joshua Pickens, Dakota Hankins. Brothers: Henry Alvar Yeats, Alvarado, Texas Conard Wesley Yeats, Waxahachie, Texas Sister in-Law: Lorene Yeats, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Numerous Great Grandchildren Numerous great, great grandchildren. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 1 daughter: Laura Lock and 1 grandson; Jeramy Pickens, 7 brothers and sisters; Ruby Lee, Fontaine Maurice, Joe Burditt, Helen Frances, James William, Eric Marion and Carlton Leon.
