Fred Loren Walker of Marietta, OK passed away Sunday, November 22, 2015 at his residence at the age of 80. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Fred was born in Altamont, KS the son of Woodford Walker and Buelah Chaney Walker. He married Freda Frogley on October 12, 1957 in Miami, OK. After serving in the U.S. Army, Fred went to work for Blackburn Electric. Then after retiring from Blackburn, he moved his family to Marietta, and along with his brother, Ken, started the Hickr'y House BBQ in Ardmore, OK. In 1976 Fred and Freda opened the Hickr'y House BBQ in Marietta.
Fred was a people person. He loved going to the farm and spending time with his family and friends.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Lisa Gurley; granddaughter, Amber Gurley; seven brothers; and four sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Freda of the home; two sons, Larry and wife Diane Walker and Lenny and wife Lesilie Walker of Marietta; five grandchildren, Chris, Devon, Brian, Holly and Chelsea Walker; and two sisters, Linda Wittner and Judy Wilson of Chetopa, KS.
