Willy Jim Gaines Jr., 55, of Madill, Oklahoma, passed away on July 10, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in Ardmore, Oklahoma. He was born on September 10, 1968, in Ardmore, Oklahoma, Willy was the son of the late Willy Jim Gaines and Ida Mae Byars Gaines. Willy spent his formative years in Marietta, graduating from high school in 1987. His career was marked by dedication and hard work, having worked at Bluebonnet Feed in Ardmore, Red River Sale Barn in Overbrook, Oklahoma, Lady Bug Stallion Station in Madill, and most recently, CM Trailers for the past 13 years. In 2008, Willy moved to Madill where he found love and married Christy Machell Hughes on October 18, 2009, in Tishomingo, Oklahoma. He was a valued member of the Madill Round-up Club and found solace and community at New Beginnings Church. Willy had a passion for working with horses, enjoyed roping, and cherished peaceful moments on his back porch. However, his greatest joy was his family, especially his granddaughter, Bird.
He is survived by his loving wife, Christy Gaines of Madill, Oklahoma; his children: Chase Cavitt and wife Kara of Marietta, Oklahoma, Chance Cavitt and wife Emily of Marietta, Oklahoma, Zack Melton of Mead, Oklahoma, Dale Martin and Hunter Martin of Madill, Oklahoma; six grandchildren: Haven, Kash and Memphis Matthews, Jaselyn "Bird" Cavitt, Hailey Martin and Cashlee Martin. Brothers: Brandon Gaines and wife Skylar of Ardmore, Oklahoma, Terry Gaines of Madill, Oklahoma, and Jeffery Gaines of Ardmore, Oklahoma; mother-in-law Christine Hughes of Marietta, Oklahoma; sisters-in-law Sherry Whitmore of Marietta, Oklahoma, Neda Wilson of Marietta, Oklahoma, LaDonna Hughes of Healdton, Oklahoma, brother-in-law Eddie Hughes and wife Jennifer of Hulbert, Oklahoma, Jerry Roskam of Ardmore, Oklahoma; as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
"He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, including his grandfather Frank Peercy who was living with Willy at the time of his passing, his sister Anna Mae Gaines, his brother Stevie Gaines, his brother-in-law Dumpy Hughes, and his sister-in-law Margie Roskam."
