After retirement, Bill and Rose returned to Marietta in 1994. An avid historian, Bill was a charter member of the Love County Military Museum in Marietta. As a consummate horseman, he, Rose and their two grandsons traveled and competed in horse shows. Bill won World Champion Appaloosa Men's Costume in 1983, '84 and '87.
