Dr. William Harold Smith, 95, of Euless, Texas passed away on Monday, July 15, 2024, at the Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Grapevine, Texas. He was born in Kingston, Oklahoma on January 25, 1929, the son of Rex and Florence Smith. He graduated from Kingston High School in 1948 and joined the United States Air Force serving from 1948 to 1952 in Germany during the Korean War. William returned home with a GI Bill and attended Murray State College, then he attended Oklahoma A&M where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science. He finished at Purdue University where he received his Masters and PHD in Animal Nutrition. He married Joe Ann Thompson on March 26, 1954, in Madill, Oklahoma and she preceded him in death on October 13, 2023. Dr. William H. Smith stayed at Purdue and became a professor and spent 16 years doing research and teaching. After moving back to Texas, to be closer to his family, he was director of the Texas A&M Research and Extension Center in Overton, Texas for 6 years. Dr. William H. Smith later became a Commercial Real Estate Agent CCIM until he retired in 1994.
Dr. William H. Smith enjoyed going places and learning new things, Joe Ann would always say "he just wants to go, go, go." He loved being outside, he learned to snow ski in Germany, loved boating, camping and working in the yard having large gardens with fruits and vegetables. He and Joe Ann enjoyed traveling and have been all over the world, Canada, Russia, Spain, China, France, Ireland, and many other places. Dr. William H. Smith also enjoyed the casinos and playing penny slots, he would win lots of money with .09¢. He enjoyed sports, especially Purdue basketball, but his favorite sport was golfing, he would golf 3 to 4 times a week.

Children: Britt Smith and wife Karen, Dallas, Texas
Sonja M. Smith, Euless, Texas
Grandson: Alec Smith, Denver
2 grand cats and 1 great grand dog.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and wife of 69 years, Joe Ann Smith.
