Funeral services for William Lewis Foster of Shady Dale will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, October 31, 2022, at the First Baptist Church in Marietta with Pastor Shane Norton officiating. Interment with follow at the Lakeview Cemetery in Marietta. A time of visitation will be held on Sunday, October 30, from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta.
William Lewis Foster was born April 12, 1935, in Shady Dale, the son of K.A. "Bob" and Jewel Alene (Brown) Foster. He attended Shady Dale school for four years and then attended Marietta schools graduating in 1953. He married his high school sweetheart, Ada Jo Chambers, on May 30, 1953.
They moved to Ardmore for 19 years and their four children were born there. He worked for Colvert's Dairy for four years, then went to work for Ken Milburn Ford for 10 years. He then went into business for himself at Ardmore and Marietta Auto Mart. In January 1986, he bought Love County Ford from Bill Brewster and operated it until he retired in November 1997.
Lewis attended Marietta First Baptist Church and was a member since 1972. Lewis and Jo loved to watch their grandchildren in sports. They traveled all over to ballgames. He also liked the Oklahoma City Thunder, Dallas Mavericks, Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, and the Oklahoma Sooners.
Lewis loved to go on vacations, especially all over Colorado. He was on the Board of Directors of the Shady Dale Fire Department and donated the land to build the Fire Station, and it was named Foster #1.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister, Twila June Foster; a sister, Peggy Dell Sykora; and son-in-law, Lester Greathouse.
He is survived by his wife, Jo; three sons and one daughter, Steve Foster and wife Maridel of Newcastle, OK, Bobby Foster and wife Brenda of Marietta, Lisa Greathouse of Ardmore, and Scott Foster and wife Kim of Ardmore; 10 grandchildren, Jeremy, Amanda, Jake, Skye, Cash, Cody, Hannah, Garrett, Parker, and Morgan; 11 great-grandchildren, Madilynn, Tripp, Blakelyn, Beckett, Brady, Blake, Foster, Palmer, Kinsler, Creighton and Crimson; several nieces and nephews; and a stepsister, Erma Murphy of Gainesville, TX.
Casket bearers will be Jeremy Foster, Jake Foster, Cash Greathouse, Cody Greathouse, Garrett Foster, Parker Foster, Spencer Phipps, and John Stendel. Honorary bearers are Don Herwick, Donnie Gillham, Dale Sykora, Craig Sykora and Brent Sykora.
Services are under the care of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Marietta.
