Obituary

William Marion "Dub" Bell, 89-year-old long-time Marietta, OK resident, passed away Monday, April 1, 2024, while surrounded by his loving family at the Mercy Hospital in Ardmore, OK. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home Sunday, April 7, 2024, between the hours of 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.  Services have been entrusted to the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Marietta.

Dub began this life on January 18, 1935, in Loves Valley, OK the son of James Oscar and Dottie (Marion) Bell. He grew up and attended schools in Marietta. Dub married the love of his life, Laura Belle Phillips on November 29, 1952. The two spent more than 60 years together before she passed away in August of 2013.

Dub worked as an automotive mechanic and drove a wrecker for most of his working life. He enjoyed fixing anything with an engine and riding motorcycles. Dub liked being out on the open road traveling to sites and destinations all over the country. He also loved spending time outdoors. Dub spent countless hours fishing and working in his garden. He also loved to wind down a busy day by reading a good book. Dub was a former member of the First United Methodist Church in Marietta and a current member of the First Baptist Church in Marietta.

Dub was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; son, Stephen Ray Bell; and brother, James Murray Bell. Those left to cherish his memory are his son, William Douglas "Bill" Bell and wife Marcia of Marietta; brother, Joe David Bell and wife Susan of Marietta; daughter-in-law, Johni Phillips; four grandchildren, Wendy Bell-Barlow and husband Danny of Greenville, OK, Chris Bell and wife Renae of Overbrook, OK, Dillon Bell of Ardmore, and Bryce Bell of Ardmore; and seven great-grandchildren, Vegas Bell, Mackenzie Burton and husband Cutter, Hattie Bell, Maggie Bell, Miles Bell, Emma Bell, and Ava Bell.

The family has asked that those who wish to honor Dub's memory through a donation, please remember the Burneyville Cemetery Association.
