Wendy Lu Stump was born on May 13, 1976, in the small, peaceful town of Bowie, Texas. She was raised alongside her younger sister, Mendy, by their mother, Shelly Guilliams.

Growing up, Wendy could always be found orchestrating some mischievous scheme involving her sister, or riding through a herd of cattle on the lap of her grandfather, Wayne. Her long golden hair, fierce blue eyes, and radiant smile always seemed to have an uncanny ability to spread among those fortunate enough to gaze upon it.

As the seasons passed and Wendy grew into young adulthood, her free-spirited soul remained stronger than ever. In the Summer of 1992, when her beloved season was in full bloom, Wendy met James Laughlin—a meeting that would shape the meaning of happiness for the rest of her life.

The following year, 1993, stood as a significant chapter for Wendy. That year, she gleefully accepted the family name Laughlin and gave birth to her son, Nathen Zeik Laughlin, whom she loved and cherished for the next 31 years. In 2004, she welcomed Gary Tyler Teal into her life and home. Though she never birthed Tyler, she loved him as her own son.

Wendy was a one-of-a-kind soul. She was known for her signature glowing blue eyes, radiant flowing hair, and her stubborn-to-a-fault attitude. Her ability to spark laughter in any room will remain unmatched.

Her favorite joys in life included watching her granddaughter, Amber, play dress-up; cheering for her grandsons, James and John, as they wrestled; supporting Gary Blake in basketball and football; and watching her nephews, Gage and Blaine, play soccer, as well as her niece, Arden, play basketball.

She loved her friends and family deeply—and was deeply loved in return.

Wendy, as you depart this world, know that you are loved, and you have left an everlasting impression upon all of us.

Memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at the United Methodist Church in Montague, TX with Pastor Chris Mauldin officiating.
