Virginia Lee Edmonds

Virginia Lee Edmonds, 83, of Madill, Oklahoma, passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas. Virginia was born on July 29, 1942, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to the late Eugene Franklin Brownlee and Ruth Marie Reuss Brownlee. Virginia was raised in Guthrie and Norman, Oklahoma. She married James Leo Edmonds on June 20, 1964, in Wolf Point, Montana and he preceded her in death on February 4, 2004. Around 1967, she made Madill her home, where she raised her family. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Madill, where she enjoyed attending her Sunday School class taught by Sybil Cantrell and cherished the friendships she shared with the women in her class. Virginia had a strong work ethic throughout her life. She worked as a waitress and was employed by the Madill Pants Factory, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Walmart, and cleaned the Marshall County Health Department. She also faithfully worked alongside her husband, Leo, helping operate several service stations and keeping the books for his trucking business. She found great joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved reading, gardening, and even mowing her lawn. She faithfully volunteered at the First Baptist Church Clothing House and treasured every opportunity to spend time with her family. Virginia especially enjoyed gardening alongside her father-in-law, Eula James Edmonds, creating memories that lasted a lifetime. One of the highlights of each year was attending the Brownlee Family Reunion, where she looked forward to reuniting with relatives she often only saw during that special July weekend. Virginia will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She was known for her strong will, determination, and unwavering love for her family. Her kindness, devotion, and faithful spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her children, Debrah Turnbough, of Alvarado, Texas, Billy Edmonds and wife, Debbie Kay, of Fort Worth, Texas, Donna Cobb of Willis, Oklahoma, Karla Earley of Enos, Oklahoma, Charlie Edmonds of Oakland, Oklahoma, and Wendy Morton and husband, Michael, of Tishomingo, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Juston Turnbough, Scott Turnbough and fiancée, Laura Landrum, Shannon and Matthew, Lindley, James (JC) Cobb, Rena Cobb and fiancée, Jarred Heflin, Zachary Cobb and Kailee, Dustin Earley and Loren, Gayle Meek and J.R., Katherine Higgins and Shane, Amber Hearst and Max, Tanner Morton and Caitlin, and Gareth Morton; great-grandchildren, Bryson, Dillion, William, and Noah Higgins, Ethan Turnbough, Seth Turnbough and Taylor, Sam Turnbough and Bailey, Stratton Turnbough and fiancée Peyton Bradish, Saxton Turnbough, Peyton Vasquez, Jarren Heflin, Landon Earley, Jossie Earley, Ryan Meek, Tino Rojas, Hugo Hearst, and Freddie Hearst; great-great-grandchildren, Knox, Fin, Stetson, and Sutton Turnbough; brothers, Leon Brownlee of Norman, Oklahoma, and Glen Brownlee and wife, Brenda, of Ardmore, Oklahoma; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
