Viola Van Voast Jones, age 95, of Madill, Oklahoma, was born on December 28, 1930, in Wichita, Kansas, and went to her heavenly home on May 12, 2026.
Viola was a 1949 graduate of De Queen High School in De Queen, Arkansas, where she was Valedictorian of her class. During her school years, she was an active member of the Honor Society, Glee Club, and Home Economics Club.
On December 31, 1948, she married the love of her life, Thomas Jones. In 1962, Viola and her family moved to Madill, where she became a longtime member of the community. She worked as a seamstress for 28 years at Madill Manufacturing Company, where she was known for her dedication and strong work ethic.
Viola was an active member of her community and faithfully served the Lord throughout her life. She was a pianist at Calvary Baptist Church and had been a devoted member of Oakview Baptist Church for the past 35 years.
Viola was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Jones. Brothers Phillip Van Voast, Luther Van Voast, and Richard Van Voast.
She is survived by her son, James Jones, and wife Gloria; grandsons, Stefan Jones and wife Reba, and Casey Jones and Madison Johnson; and great-granddaughters, Kennedy and Evelyn. She is also survived by her sisters, Freda Pedron and Margaret Gonzalez.
Viola will be remembered for her faith in God, her loving heart, quiet strength, devotion to her family, and the kindness she shared with everyone who knew her. Her memory will be cherished by all whose lives she touched.
