Obituary

Graveside services for Stephen Davell "Cowboy" Cole, of Thackerville, OK, will be Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Mount Zion Cemetery, Thackerville with Bro. Murray McMurray officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Marietta, OK.

Cowboy was born August 11, 1962, in Frankfurt, Germany, the son of Sylvia Maxine (McCraw) and Stephen McDonald Cole. He died November 25, 2020 at his residence at the age of 58.

Cowboy was born in Germany where his father was stationed with the U.S. Army. He grew up in Panama, Colorado and Irving, TX. He was a graduate of the MacArthur High School in Irving. Cowboy enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was stationed on the USS Constellation aircraft carrier. He was honorably discharged and awarded the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon for his service. At the time of his death, he had been employed with Peterbilt in Denton, TX for almost 13 years.

Cowboy had many interests in life, most centered around his family and anything with chrome, specifically his motorcycles. He enjoyed taking trips on his motorcycles and riding in the Medal Of Honor parade in Gainesville, TX, and the motorcycle ride for Toys For Tots. Cowboy kept his cars, trucks, and motorcycles meticulously detailed. He was always busy doing something, whether it was remodeling his own home, dancing, singing karaoke, playing cards, working on old vehicles, or woodworking. Cowboy was an excellent cook when it came to grilling steaks, sausage, and chicken. His greatest joy was teaching things to his grandkids and he loved attending birthday parties for friends and family. Cowboy was a mountain of a man, but a gentle giant, tough as nails, but as soft as Charmin.

Survivors include his mother, Maxine Cole of Gainesville; son, Jesse Cole and wife Desirae of Krugerville, TX; daughters, Amie Jordan of Anchorage, AK, Julie Cummings of Gainesville, and Kacie Attaway and husband Chris of Thackerville; mother of children and friend, Debbie Kelley; girlfriend, Mindy Davis of Marietta; brothers, Ben Cole and wife Nancy of McKinney, TX and Bobby Cole and wife Rhonda of Sadler, TX; sister, Veronica Harper and husband Bill of Sherman, TX; grandchildren, Levi Henry, Lily Cole, Emma Cole, Anna Cole, Sawyer Attaway, Colton Attaway, and Jagger; uncle, David Cole and wife Carolyn of Amarillo, TX; aunts, Dale Fiesel of Quitman, LA, Cassie Shelley of Leesville, LA, Ginger Grant and husband Bob of Rowlett, TX, and Janet Morris and husband Frank of Gainesville; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
