Obituary

Silas Hughlon Gorrell Jr. was born on September 15, 1957, in Durant, Oklahoma, and lived in the Marshall County area his entire life. He attended both Madill and Kingston Public Schools and graduated from Kingston High School in 1975.

After graduating from high school, Hugh began working in the pipeline alongside his Uncle John. He later worked in multiple states performing red iron work before continuing his career as a welder for J&I Manufacturing. He eventually retired from J&I, where he worked in the sheer shop.

Silas is survived by his three children, Landon Vance, Silas Ethan, and Addie Mae. Being their father was his most important role, and his love, guidance, and values will continue to live on through them.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shanna Gorrell, with whom he shared 26 years of marriage and built a beautiful life together, as well as by his parents.

Silas dearly loved his grandchildren and treasured every moment spent with them. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who found peace in the outdoors and was also know by his family and friends as the ultimate barbecue master, and a true rock-and-roller who made sure his children understood what real music was all about.
