Sheila Kay Roper began this life on June 5, 1958, in Ardmore, OK, the daughter of Bertie Earl and Elsie Lee (Mayes) Harmon. Not long after graduating high school, Sheila married the love of her life, Weldon Roper on May 13, 1977, in Burneyville. The two had recently celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary.

Sheila was a very caring and nurturing person who found a great deal of gratification in her position as an ISS teacher at Marietta Public Schools. Some of her most loved memories were made while attending Turner High School, where she made many lifelong friends, met her husband and spent time with her siblings. During her time at Turner, she was voted Annual Queen and crowned 1976 Frontier Days Queen. Over the years, Sheila followed her children to all of their sporting events and school activities. She loved family time. Whether it was at deer camp, sitting around a campfire visiting, playing games, or hosting holiday get-togethers. Sheila cherished time spent with family above anything else, enjoyed her daily phone conversations with her sister Tenia and visits from her brother Troy. Over the years, she grew quite a collection of keychains, given to her by family and friends from their travels. Sheila was also known to enjoy the occasional shopping spree, and if it was for jewelry, then that was even better. Quite often you could catch her watching the OKC Thunder or the Dallas Mavericks, enjoying Tim McGraw music, or maybe even just snuggled up in her chair reading a good book.

Sheila was preceded in death by her parents and by two brothers, Leonard Harmon and Gene Harmon. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Weldon of the home in Shady Dale; daughter, Ashley Roper of Ardmore; son, Chad Roper and wife Amy of Sherman; grandchildren, Terra Kelley, Hayley Roper, Kaytee Roper, Abigail Nunn, and Madyson Nunn; great-grandchildren Dayton Kelley and Denver Kelley; brother, Troy Harmon and wife Joy of Marietta; sister, Tenia Spalvieri and husband Jerry of Chandler, OK; special nephews, Marshal Harmon and wife Chelsi of Marietta and Jeremy Spalvieri and wife Randi of Oklahoma City, OK; special nieces, Ryleigh Harmon of Marietta and Kayla Meyer and husband Zack of Kingfisher, OK; great nieces and nephews, Peyton Harmon, Knox Harmon, Camden Spalvieri, Conley Spalvieri, Jace Spalvieri, Kruz Meyer, Kinlyn Meyer, Kyze Meyer, and Karstyn Meyer; and numerous other close family members and friends.

Casket bearers are Dustin Roper, Nathan Roper, Bubba Tamez, John Tamez, Marshal Harmon and Jeremy Spalvieri. Honorary bearers are all of her former ISS Students.

The family has asked that those who wish to honor Sheila's memory do so through donating your time, funds and supporting your local schools' organizations and programs.
