Obituary

Sharon Kay Cossey Scott, age 78, of Pottsboro, Texas, passed away on April 24, 2026.

Sharon was born on May 6, 1947, in Madill, Oklahoma, to Viola Mae Hobbs Cossey and Lester “Ray” Cossey, who preceded her in death, along with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was an only child. She graduated from Madill High School in 1965 and carried the values of her hometown with her throughout her life.

She worked as an apartment manager for many years and was known for her dedication and the relationships she built with those around her. She was also proud to have received her EMT certification.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who found her greatest joy in her family. Sharon is survived by her husband, Tommy Scott, whom she married on December 15, 2012. She is also survived by her daughters, Paula Carter and her husband Bobby Carter, and Amy Tennison and her husband Bryan Tennison, her aunt Betty Hobbs Clark and many cousins.

She was a proud Meme to Corey Gibbs and his wife Katelyn Gibbs, Ty Carter, Ashton Johnson and her husband Adam Johnson, and Seth Tennison. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren, Gracie and Jasper Gibbs, and Lyla Johnson.

Sharon was a faithful member of Georgetown Baptist Church in Pottsboro. She loved spending time with family and friends, going dancing, playing Bunco, reading, and shopping—especially at her favorite stores, Ross and Belk. She also loved spending time with her dog, Joy. She often said she had loved onions and Elvis since the third grade, a reflection of her fun-loving spirit and sense of humor.

Sharon will be remembered for her warmth, her laughter, and the deep love she had for those around her. She leaves behind a family who will cherish her memory always.

Casket Bearers: Bryan Tennison, Bobby Carter, Corey Gibbs, TY Carter, Seth Tennison and Adam Johnson
