Obituary

Rowena June Montgomery, of the Eastman community, was born on December 4, 1933, in Burneyville, OK to Atlas Dale and Fannie Bethel Myrtle (Caldwell) Williams. She passed away in Eastman, OK on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at the age of 91.

Rowena graduated from Meadowbrook High School and later married James Clarence "J.C." Montgomery, Jr. on December 6, 1951, in Marietta. He preceded her in death on July 5, 2021.

Rowena lived most of her life in Love County, and loved to cook, garden and sew. Her passion was being a longtime and faithful member of the Eastman Baptist Church. She ministered to the ladies in the community and would write her Sunday school lessons down for those that couldn't attend. She could not read sheet music but learned to play the piano as a child and was the church pianist for many, many years. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and was always praying for her grandsons, the "Magnificent 7".

Rowena was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, J.D. Montgomery; daughter, LeeAnne May and her husband Randy; granddaughter, Trinity Montgomery; great-grandson, Patrick Callahan; sister, Rae Alma Mapp; and a brother, Robert "Bub" Williams.

Left to cherish Rowena's memory are her two children, Tim Montgomery and wife Donna of Santee, CA, and Angie Fisher and husband Chet of Melissa, TX; 14 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Nadella Williams of Eastman.
