Peter Michael
"Mike" Parker
July 16, 1940 – June 19, 2023
Peter Michael "Mike" Parker, 82-year-old Rubottom, OK resident, peacefully passed away Monday, June 19, 2023, while surrounded by family at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 22, 2023, in the Freeman Auditorium of the Turner Public Schools with Rev. Mike Williams and Rev. Ryan Eakins officiating. Mike will be laid to rest next to his family in the Leon Cemetery in Leon, OK. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday in the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home Chapel in Marietta, OK.
Mike began this life on July 16, 1940, in Leon, the son of Lyndon Oscar "L.O." and Juanita Anna Jane (Holland) Parker. He attended schools in Leon where he graduated with the Class of 1958. Mike went on to further his education at Murray State College. Soon after his time at Murray State, Mike married the love of his life, Earlene Lois Blakley on August 12, 1960, in Marietta. The two moved to the Oklahoma City area where Mike worked as a welder at Herb Welding. He later opened his own welding shop in Oklahoma City called City Welding. Some time later, Mike took a foreman position with Lonestar Concrete working for Jack Holland in Irving, TX. Mike and Lois returned to Love County in 1971 where Mike worked for the Co-op in Wilson, OK, farmed peanuts, opened his own pecan shelling company called Parker's Nutcracker, and did just about anything else he could do to support his family.
Mike never met a stranger and absolutely loved visiting and telling stories with anyone who would take the time to visit. He loved spending time with his Leon Domino Hall buddies and spent countless hours in places only known to him hunting for arrowheads. Mike and Lois also never missed an opportunity to watch their granddaughters play ball. When he wasn't working or at a ball game, chances are you would find Mike puttering around the property on his golf cart with Shyanne. Mike was also a devout member of the Rubottom Baptist Church.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Lisa Brooke Parker; brother, Patrick Oscar Parker; nephew, Gregory Oscar Parker; brothers-in-law, Bob Bell, Monte Hignight, Arch Blakley, and Lewis Blakley; sisters-in-law, Winifred Hignight and Wanda Parker. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Earlene of the home; son, Lance Parker of Jimtown, OK; grandchildren, Shyanne Nicole Parker and Sierra Brooke Willis and husband Braidon all of Burneyville, OK; great-grandchild, Bronx McClain Willis; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews; and special family members, Jenny Flowers and husband Michael.
Casket bearers are Shyanne Parker, Sierra Willis, Vernie Thompson, Mike Morton, Jim Gillham, and Aaron Hicks. Honorary bearers are Don Musser, Will Musser, Pierce Monkres, Dale Richardson, Sonny Hartman, Rhonda Henry, Jack Holland, C.W. Hallum, the Leon Domino Crew, and Cross Timbers Hospice.
The family has asked that those who wish to honor Mike's memory through a donation, please remember the Lisa Parker Scholarship Fund.
