Nancy Jo Flowers

Mom, friend, wife, teacher, cheer sponsor, football fan, Nascar fan, Sooner, hairdresser, hugger, Nana. Nancy Jo Flowers was born April 19, 1946, in Altus, Oklahoma, and passed to her eternal home on June 6, 2026, in Lexington, Oklahoma. Nancy was born to J.W. and Gerri Duncan and spent her childhood in Altus before moving to Lawton as a teenager. She graduated from Lawton High School with the class of 1964 and treasured lifelong friendships with many of her classmates. While a student at LHS, Nancy met a fun-loving guy named Ronnie and married him on May 30, 1965, in Lawton. Together, they built a home and a business before retiring to Lake Texoma in 2006. Ronnie and Nancy enjoyed 53 years of marriage before his passing in 2023. They were blessed with two sons, Chris and Dusty. Nancy was the sweetest and most generous mom. All the neighborhood kids made her home their second home, where sleepovers and pool parties were enjoyed by all. The more the merrier was her motto, and there was never a dull moment. Nancy graduated from Cameron University with her degree in education. Nancy loved teaching English at both the junior high and high school levels. She was very passionate about her profession and became known for correcting friends' and loved ones’ grammar, and simply couldn’t be beat in a game of Scrabble. Mrs. Flowers also served as both the cheer and pom sponsor at Lawton Eisenhower High School and Kingston High School. She had great compassion for her students and encouraged them long past high school. One of Nancy’s greatest joys was when she became Nana, and she was grateful for her three grandkids. Ali, J.D, and Hammer were loved beyond measure by their Nana. They never heard her utter the word “no” and she made many special memories with each of them. From make-shift pools in the backyard to movie night pallets on the living room floor, Nana’s house was always filled with fun and surprises. She was their greatest cheerleader and supporter. Nancy enjoyed reading, playing board games, watching sports, rooting for her Sooners, decorating for the holidays, and hosting friends and family. Always properly accessorized in bright red, with a Diet Coke in hand, she had style and taste and loved making sure her family was dressed to impress. She enjoyed shopping for her family, especially her grandkids, and had a shoe collection that even a 5th avenue fashion house would be envious of. Nana will always be remembered for her big smile, her incredible hugs, her very short phone calls, and her caring heart. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ronnie, and her brothers David, Jimmy, and Ronnie. She is survived by her son Chris Flowers and wife Iann of Lexington, Oklahoma, and son Dusty Flowers of Kingston, Oklahoma. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Ali Torres and husband Gabriel of East Providence, Rhode Island, J.D Flowers of Kingston, Oklahoma, and Hammer Flowers of Norman, Oklahoma. Nancy is survived by her sister Earlene Hubert and husband LeRoy of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, very special nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of loving friends and former students.
