Obituary

Michael (Mike) Lynn Dickson, 71 of Madill, Oklahoma passed from this life on January 28, 2025, at the Mercy Hospital in Ardmore, Oklahoma.  He was born on July 21, 1953, in Durant, Oklahoma to the late Benjamin Franklin Dickson and Velma Olevia Blakely Dickson.  At birth, Michael was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy and after a short stay in the hospital, he was brought home for love and special care by his parents. Michael attended Madill schools through Junior High and then home schooled by his mother.  Although he suffered from physical handicaps, he enjoyed life and had a great sense of humor.  Michael enjoyed watching TV, listening to gospel music, all kinds of sports, particularly watching OU football, OKC Thunder basketball, Madill High School football and basketball, working puzzles and playing bingo.

Following his father's death in 1982, his mother continued to care for him until her death in 2013 at the age of ninety-three.  At that time, Michael moved into Brookside Nursing Center in Madill, loving it from day one.  He made many friends there who made him feel special. He also received a lot of attention from his aunt and uncle Mary Ann and Doyle Blakely and aunt Doris Turner.

Mike was a member of First Baptist Church Madill and loved church and Sunday School where he faithfully attended until unable to do so due to his physical limitations.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, several uncles and aunts. He is survived by an aunt, Doris Turner, and cousins Danny Blakely and Christi Burkhart.
