Obituary

Mary Louise Stevens Weldon, 97, of Madill, Oklahoma passed away Friday, February 28, 2025.  She was born February 13, 1928, in Lorimor, IA, to the late Albert Kitchell and Delores Caroline (Fredrickson) Stevens. After graduating from Mt. Ayr High School, she moved to Des Moines with her older sister. Mary later traveled to Madill, OK, where her brother was involved in construction of Lake Texoma. There she met and married Billy Gene Weldon, Sr. Following their union on March 25, 1948, they raised four children and many, many tomatoes, side by side, in and around Madill.

Mary worked primarily as a homemaker before joining the staff of the Madill Pants Factory. She retired in 1990 after 20 years of work and forming lifetime friendships with her coworkers. She devoted herself to active service in the congregation of the Madill Church of the Nazarene.

A woman of simple pleasures and gentle strength, she will be remembered for her deep commitment to her faith, family, church, and friends.  Mary excelled at rocking babies and crafting delicious dishes that could never be replicated and had a lilting laugh that was pure joy. In her later years, she enjoyed adventures with her friends, including many trips to Branson, and an unforgettable trip to the Holy lands.
