On June 2, 1945, Sue married the love of her life Simon Richard "Son" Taliaferro in Jimtown. They shared more than 54 years together before his passing in June of 1999.

Sue was a member of Marietta's First Baptist Church and the Leon Home Demonstration Club for years. In addition to her club activities, Sue also spent a good amount of her spare time working in her yard and tending to her flower beds. She took great pride in the appearance of her home. Sue also loved to cook and bake. She was famous for her family's favorite peanut butter and chocolate chip cookies. Sue also loved cooking Sunday dinners for the whole family. Her family would often sit down to the best fried chicken in southern Oklahoma. Sue will be remembered as a very loving and caring woman who thought the world of her family and was always willing to help anyone in a time of need. One of the things that her family may miss most is receiving the birthday cards and Christmas cards that Sue faithfully sent out every year.
