Mary Louise Deihl Semrau passed away to be with her Lord on March 22, 2026. Her departure was peaceful and comfortable with her loving husband Mike by her side. Louise was born on November 5, 1940, on what is now the Hickory Creek Game Reserve and lived there until 1944 when she and her family moved to Legate, OK, which is five miles north of her birthplace.
She was the daughter of the late J.P. and Vera Rickets.
Louise began school at Enville, OK at the age of five and completed the eighth grade in1954. At Enville she played basketball and competed in high jump and track sprint events. She attended high school in Marietta, OK where she graduated in 1958 with honors. She was a starter on both offense and defense in basketball for four years. She played offense or defense depending on the strength of the opponent's best player having to line up against her. Louise was also a very fast sprinter and ran in track competition in the 100-yard dash and team relays. She was nominated by her classmates as the football queen and had a wonderful time during high school. Louise was a true athlete and enjoyed horseback riding and dancing.
Louise was of the Baptist faith and made a commitment to Jesus Christ as Savior in April of 1957 at the age of 16 at First Baptist Church in Marietta. Later in life, she enjoyed being with family members and hosting family for special events. Her home was always open to friends and family wherever she lived.
After graduating high school, Louise attended Southeastern Oklahoma College for three years. She then transferred to Northeastern State College where she graduated in 1962 with a degree in education. Louise took her first job in El Paso, TX in 1962 as a high school business teacher. She spent her entire career with El Paso until retirement.
Louise moved back to Ardmore, OK after retirement to help take care of her parents. It was then she met Mike Semrau, whom she married on October 13, 2011. She and mike moved to Lake Kiowa, TX where they lived several years before moving to Denton, TX, where Mike owned a RV business.
Funeral services for Louise will be at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, March 27th at the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Alton Fannin officiating. Interment will follow at the Lakeview Cemetery in Marietta. The family will host friends Thursday evening, March 26th from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Survivors include husband, Mike Semrau of the home; son, Jerald Jackson and granddaughter, Shelby Jackson of Grand Prairie, TX; brother, Arthur Rickets and wife Kay of Marietta; nephews, Drew Rickets and wife Carol of Ardmore, Lance Rickets and wife Donna of Gunter, TX; and niece, Mary Ann Riley and husband Brian of Argyle, TX.
Casket bearers will be Drew Rickets, Lance Rickets, Christopher Rickets, Jordan Rickets, Eli Rickets and Max Rickets.
