Margaret Lee Jones, of Thackerville, OK, was born on July 13, 1930, in Hillview, IL to Joe and Mildred L. (Henson) Newingham. She passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at her Thackerville residence at the age of 95.

Margaret was raised in Illinois and eventually made her way to western Oklahoma with her family, before settling in the Thackerville area 40 years ago. She married William Richard Jones on January 23, 1954, in Greene County, IL. He preceded her in death on January 28, 1993.

Margaret loved to cook, sew and make quilts.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Ron, Paul and Kerry Jones; brothers, Jack, Fred and Bill Newingham; and sisters, Patsy Ford and Stella Lawson.

Left to cherish Margaret's memory are her sons, Jack Jones of Kingston, OK, Bill Jones of the Philippines, and James Jones of Thackerville; daughters, Sharon Sampson and husband James of Thackerville and Ann Christie and husband John of Azle, TX; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Laura Jones of Ft. Smith, AR; brother, Ted Newingham of Apple River, IL; and sisters Judy Alexander of Whitehall, IL, Jean Vanmeter and husband John of Whitehall, and Elaine Bagent of Shipman, IL.

Graveside services will be at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, October 30, at  the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Thackerville with Pastor Chris Mauldin officiating. Services are under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Marietta.
