Magdalena Ursula
Crenshaw
October 5, 1936 – December 19, 2024
During the predawn hours of Thursday, December 19, 2024, Mrs. Magdalena Ursula Crenshaw, who was eight-eight years of age, passed away peacefully while sleeping after undergoing several months of declining health and increasing age related illness. Magdalena resided with her daughter, Barbara, in Marshall County, Oklahoma. Mrs. Crenshaw was born on October 5, 1936, in Russelsheim, Germany and survived the turmoil and destruction of World War II during her childhood. On April 27, 1957, she married an American service man, Arthur LaRose, who was stationed in Germany. During their early courtship, Magdalena did not speak English and Arthur did not speak German, so Magdalena's brother would accompany them to act as translator on dates. On July 11, 1969, Magdalena earned her United States citizenship while Arthur was stationed at Fort Rucker in Montgomery, Alabama. During their marriage the couple had a son, Lionel and a daughter, Barbara. The marriage ended in divorce on February 9, 1973, and Magdalena moved to Texas with her son and daughter. While living and working in Texas Magdalena met Wayne Crenshaw, a United States Navy Chief Petty Officer, stationed at Naval Air Station Corpus Christi. They were married on February 23, 1981. The couple remained in the Corpus Christi area after Wayne retired from the Navy until relocating to Roswell, N.M. Wayne's original family home. After Wayne's passing on June 11, 2017, Magdalena returned to Texas in February 2018 to be near her family. In July 2020 Magdalena moved to Oklahoma so Barbara could help care for her because of her declining health.
