Luke Terry Dunlap of Frisco, TX, was born on November 9, 1969, in Lubbock, TX, to Jake and Frances Nadine (Perry) Dunlap. He passed away at his Oswalt, OK ranch on Saturday, May 16, 2026.
Luke married the former Karla Deanne Taliaferro on August 12, 1995, in Dallas, TX. Together they built a life centered around faith, family, and friendship.
He graduated from Texas Tech University with a bachelor’s degree in park administration. Luke was a devoted Texas Tech football fan who loved fishing and hunting. He never met a stranger and had a genuine passion for helping people. He worked as a salesman in the cyber security industry. One of his favorite traditions was Thursday date nights with Karla, and he especially loved spending time at the Grey Duck Ranch in Oswalt, where he could ranch and spend time with the cattle.
Luke had lived the past six years in Frisco after previously spending 14 years in McKinney, TX. He attended Preston Trail Church in Frisco.
Luke was preceded in death by his parents; his brother-in-law, Bill Hilton; and his great-uncle, Lonnie Allsup.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Karla Dunlap of the home; his son, Jacob Richard Dunlap and wife Rylea of North Richland Hills, TX; his daughter, Gracie Dunlap of the home; his beloved cat Sugar and grand dog Ollie and grand cats Pebbles and Zeus.
Additional survivors include his sisters, Perry Ray of Austin, Texas, and Sheree Hayashi and husband Tim of Mansfield, TX; his brother-in-law, Larry Taliaferro and wife Linda of Burneyville, OK; his sisters-in-law, Andrea Locke and husband Michael “Mickey”, and Karen Hilton, all of Marietta; nieces, Courtney Pei and husband Andre, and Tiffany Giradot and husband Alan, along with their children, Sophia and Charlotte; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and many extended family members and friends.
A time of visitation will be held Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home Chapel in Marietta. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 22, 2026, at the funeral home. Larry Taliaferro, Jake and Gracie Dunlap, Ethan Sicking, and Siler Day officiating. Interment will follow at the Leon Cemetery in Leon, OK.
Serving as casket bearers will be Alan Girardot, Jimmy Monkres, Paul Marsh, Jeff Graham, Jereme Hilton, and Wade Taliaferro. Honorary casket bearers will be Justin Hilton, Jason Graham, Charles Nunnally, Clay Taylor, Jesse Graham, and Payten Graham.
