Obituary

Lonnie Owen Weeks, 81, of Kingston, Oklahoma, passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at the Family Care Center in Kingston, Oklahoma.  Lonnie was born on November 2, 1943, in McAlester, Oklahoma, to the late Lonnie Weeks and Juanita Jewell (Owen) Weeks. He grew up in McAlester and graduated from McAlester High School in 1961. A talented athlete, Lonnie attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University on a baseball scholarship. He made history as the university's first pitcher to throw a no-hitter. He later graduated with a degree in education and dedicated his life to teaching and coaching.  Lonnie began his teaching career at Calvin High School and later a short time in Madill before going to Kingston where he taught the majority of his career.   He retired in 1994 after 29 years of inspiring students in the classroom and on the field. He married Betty Lee Parsons on November 1, 1975, in McAlester.  Lonnie was affiliated with the Kingston Church of Christ and in his free time, Lonnie enjoyed fishing, hunting, trading cars, and keeping them spotless.

Rondia Chapman and husband David of Kiowa, Oklahoma

Grandchildren: Chance Chapman and wife Jennifer, Cierra Nelson and husband Trevor,

RJ Weeks and fiancée Lauren Beason, Avri Weeks, Dilynn Weeks, Ellie Weeks

Great-grandchildren: Case Chapman, Cade Chapman, and Waco Roy Nelson.

Step Grandchildren: Ty Herndon and wife Devan, Ryan Herndon, and Jaci Herndon and Abby Weeks

Step great grandchild: Tyler Rae Herndon
