Linda Kaye
Hicks Hopkins
October 19, 2022
Linda Kaye Hicks Hopkins, daughter of Ledford (Jimmy) and Carolyn (Shay) Hicks passed away Wednesday October 19, 2022. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Clinton Euthayn Hopkins, her parents Jimmy and Shay Hicks, and her grandmother Virginia Thompson.
She is survived by her daughter Brenda Hopkins Leslie (Tommy) of Chattanooga, TN, her son Edward L. Hopkins of Chattanooga, her brother James Hicks (Sharon) of Friendswood, TX, her sister JoAnn Asuncion (Mel) of Dallas, TX, six grandchildren, one great grandchild, 2 grandchildren in love, 5 great grandchildren in love, and many nieces and nephews.
Kaye was a member of the North Hamilton church of Christ in Soddy Daisy, TN. She was also a member of Mount Vernon church of Christ in Mount Vernon, TX for over 20 years prior to moving to Chattanooga in 2018. She was involved in teaching children in bible class over the years and a faithful member of the Lord's church. She also was involved in the National Republican Party in Texas and helped on several local and state campaigns in Mount Vernon, TX.
Mom and Dad were not able to have children of their own due to her health, but wanted children. They decided 50 years ago this past August to not only take on one child, but to take on two children (a brother and sister) at the same time. We were already school age, so becoming parents of older children had its challenges, but they loved us unconditionally. We are very grateful for their desire to love and raise us.
Kaye was admired and loved by all those whom she came in contact with and will be greatly missed. There will be a graveside service in Marietta, OK at the Lakeview cemetery, March 18, 2023 at 2:00 pm.
