Obituary

Linda Dedek Morgan, born on April 2, 1939, passed away on May 9, 2026. She was born in Thackerville, Oklahoma, to Steve and Doris Dedek.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Haney, Kenzie, Clent, Mike, and Steve; and her sisters Gladys, Helen, Bernedia and Barbara.

She is survived by her brother David Dedek of Marietta, Oklahoma; her sisters-in-law Sue Dedek of Thackerville, Oklahoma and Debra Dedek of Marietta, Oklahoma; her sons Robert Morgan of Flower Mound, Texas and Steve Morgan of Carrollton, Texas; and her daughter Sharey Jensen and her husband Lawrence of Justin, Texas. She also leaves behind six grandchildren—Christy Carter and her husband Mike, Kelly Stancil and her husband Daniel, Ashley Morgan, Robert David Morgan, Brady Morgan, and Tanner Morgan—as well as seven great-grandsons, Kaden, Kai, Brayden Jaxx, Preston, Elijah, and Caleb, four great-granddaughters Alexis, Alyssa, Marlee and Brinlee, and many nieces and nephews.

Linda lived most of her life in Carrollton, Texas, where she raised her three children. She was a strong and determined woman, building a successful business that she ran for over 30 years. Even later in life, she continued working part-time until her illness earlier this year. That drive was always part of who she was. Even as a teenager, she sought out work in Gainesville because she didn’t want to spend her days working in the fields—she was already determined to carve her own path.

Linda was known for her beauty—so much so that strangers often compared her to Elizabeth Taylor. She carried herself with a sense of style and confidence that never faded. She loved her red lipstick and red nails, a signature look she kept throughout her life. She also loved to shop, and for many years she shared special lunches and shopping trips with her sister at Neiman Marcus. They once joked that they wanted to be buried across from NorthPark so their ghosts could keep shopping forever—a reflection of her humor and the joy she found in life’s simple pleasures.

Her children and grandchildren especially cherished the stories she told about growing up in Oklahoma—stories full of adventure and mischief. She spoke of playing in the woods, of “chaser snakes,” climbing trees, and even smoking grapevine as a child. She shared memories of her mother’s homemade bread, her grandmother playing the accordion, of family gathered together, and of her aunt’s making traditional Czech kolaches. She laughed about being made to wear bonnets to keep from getting heatstroke—only to take them off as soon as they were out of sight.

Linda’s life was one of strength, independence, beauty, and love for her family. She worked hard, lived fully, and created a lifetime of memories that will continue to be shared for generations.

She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts of all who knew her.
