Leslie Floyd Speer was born September 30, 1951, to Lester “Doc” Speer and Patsy “Mattie” Lovena (Shipley) Speer in Gainesville, Texas.

Les graduated from Marietta High School in 1970. He married Caroyln Kathleen McCoy on June 22, 1973, at Lake Murray and God blessed them with four children. He worked much of his career at Weber Aircraft in Gainesville. After his time at Weber, he worked different fabrication jobs in the DFW area where he met and married Mary Margaret Bloom in 2001. They enjoyed some of the best days of their life while living in Little Elm, Texas and enjoying time on the ocean.

Les had a great passion for the Texas Longhorns and enjoyed harassing his children when his Horns beat their teams. He loved music and was proud of his children’s passion for music as well. In retirement, he enjoyed dealing cards at Winstar. Anyone who knew Les knew that he was the life of the party and was always willing to go out of his way to make someone laugh.

Les was preceded in death by his parents Lester and Mattie, his wife Mary Speer, his sisters Patsy Mode and Janice Mullins, as well as several other beloved cousins. He is survived by his children, Christa Rosine and husband Matthew of Helena Montana, Corey Speer and wife Catherine of Odessa, Texas, Joey Speer and wife Kristen of Marietta, Oklahoma, and Jesse Speer and wife Amber of Whitesboro, Texas. He is also survived by his greatest joys – his grandchildren: Chalice Rosine of Helena, Montana, Autumn Grimes and husband Kaden of El Paso, Texas, Hannah Rosine of Helena, Montana, Isaiah Speer of Odessa, Texas, Abigail Speer of Odessa, Texas, and Jackson Speer of Marietta, Oklahoma.

Leslie was welcomed into his heavenly home on September 8, 2026.
