Obituary

Leroy Ellis, 100, of Madill, Oklahoma passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at the Mercy Hospital in Ardmore, Oklahoma.  He was born on May 23, 1923, in Hooker, Oklahoma to the late William W. Ellis and Loula May Smotherman Ellis.  Leroy was raised in Hooker where he attended school.  He moved to the Willis, Oklahoma area where he lived on his farm and raised cattle.  He married Daisy Mae Burgess Farmer on June 18, 1976 at the Enos Baptist Church in Enos, Oklahoma.  They moved to Madill and he worked as a welder at the local trailer manufactories and later for the Madill public school as a janitor.  Leroy's greatest work was unto the Lord.  He did missionary work in Mexico, and prison ministry in Stringtown, Oklahoma.  He never had any children of his own but took everyone in and treated them like his own.  Leroy always gave you the plan of salvation and made sure everyone had a way to church. His bible was used so much it was held together with duct tape. He attended the local church where over the years he served as a deacon, and Sunday school teacher.
