Obituary

Laura Sue Rushing, 62 of Madill, Oklahoma went home to our Heavenly Father on August 16th, 2024, at her home in Madill. She was born on July 5th, 1962, in Madill to the late Linda Lou Murray and John D. Rushing.

Laura attended school in Madill and later went on to attend Southern Oklahoma Vo Tech in Ardmore, Oklahoma where she received her nursing Degree and was pinned with the Florence Nightingale award for the graduating nursing class of 1991.  Throughout her career she worked as an LPN for several local hospitals, staffing agencies, home health companies and even did private care nursing, but Labor and delivery was her greatest love.

She was given several colorful names by her dearest friends and family to include "Momma" "Dr. Quinn" "LaLa" "Lucy" and "Nana".  She enjoyed fishing every chance she got as well as going to the casino, but most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends.  She had the kindest, most giving heart and never wanted anyone to feel "without", "alone", or "unaccepted".  She embodied unconditional love and forgiveness for all.  Throughout her life she offered shelter, love and compassion to many friends and family members regardless of the circumstances.  She said  "Everyone deserves a home and should feel loved"…and she truly meant it.

Laura loved to laugh, have fun and was a known prankster.   She was truly a "big kid".  She specialized in Halloween costumes for herself and her close friends and celebrated this at her friends annual Halloween party.  She had a big imagination and loved putting together or helping to make the perfect costume.  She had an extensive shoe collection and loved all types of shoes; she passed this trait onto her youngest grandson, Wyler.

Laura is survived by her loving and caring partner of 30 years, Sherry Hill, and her devoted fur-baby "Sissy"
