Laura Lee
Anderson
May 25, 1969 – November 29, 2024
Laura Lee Anderson, born on May 25, 1969, in Ardmore, OK, left us on November 29, 2024, at the age of 55, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of those who knew and loved her. A proud resident of Marietta, OK, Laura led a life defined by an unwavering faith in Christianity, which shaped her as a person and guided her through her life's journey. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and faith.
The path of Laura's life was anything but conventional; it was a vibrant tapestry woven from her varied interests and endless curiosity. After graduating from Marietta High School in 1987, Laura embraced a diversity of roles in her professional life. From working at a bank, courthouse, and restaurants to owning her own business, her professional life was a whirlwind of experience. However, it was in healthcare that Laura found true fulfillment. She began her career as a Certified Nursing Assistant, progressed to Home Health, and then proudly became an EMT in 1996. It was here that Laura's natural desire to nurture and care for others shone brilliantly; she was, at her core, a "helper," always eager to extend kindness and support wherever she could.
Her faith was a pillar in her life, and even as her illness challenged her, it did not deter her spiritual involvement. Laura attended online services at Life Church and later joined the Elmstreet Baptist Church community in Sweet Home, Oregon, led by her brother, Pastor Craig. Her dedication to community and faith was parallel to her love for family.
Family was truly Laura's greatest joy and accomplishment. Her love for her daughters, Whitney Stewart Hayes and Delaney Word, was fierce and unwavering. A nurturing and devoted mother, she worked tirelessly to forge bonds of honesty and strength with her girls, weathering life's storms together and immersing in its beautiful moments with amplified joy when grandchildren entered her life. Laura considered her family, including all her aunts, uncles, and cousins, as her riches and cherished these connections deeply.
Laura was a lover of all art. She enjoyed painting, mixed media, sketching and drawing. She had a love of crocheting blankets, pillows, hats and coats for her loved ones. Laura loved to watch cooking shows, try new recipes and cooking for her family. Above all others, her greatest interest was music, be it country, folk, alternative or Christian music, she almost always had something playing.
Laura was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Betty Koerner Freeman; her father, William "Bill" Anderson; her grandfather, Edward Koerner; her grandmother, Adela Mindemann Koerner; her grandfather, James Anderson; and her grandmother, Thelma Elliot Anderson, aunts, JoAnn Schultz and Amelia Turner; and an uncle, Everett Anderson.
Left to cherish Laura's memory are her daughters, Whitney Stewart Hayes and husband Kyle, and Delaney Word, all of Marietta; grandchildren, Kysen, Kailynn, Kynadee, Kopelyn and Isla; brothers, Craig Anderson and wife Jennifer of Sweet Home, OR, and Jeff Bolton and wife Blaine of New Braunfels, TX; nieces and nephews, David, Anna, Wesley, Evan and Rachel; stepfather, Ted Freeman of Marietta, OK; a step sister, Tracy Freeman Reed of Marietta; and numerous extended family and friends.
Laura's life will be honored at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home Chapel with Randy McFarland officiating. The family will have a private committal service afterwards. Though we mourn the loss of Laura, we find comfort in the blessings she gave us in her lifetime and her everlasting impact on our lives.
Serving as casket bearers for the private family committal service will be Kyle Hayes, David Anderson, Wesley Anderson, Evan Bolton, Kellen Wilson and Mike Dominguez. Honorary casket bearers are all her cousins, friend Missy Flanagan, and the Good Shepherd Hospice Team.
