Kittie M.
Gaither
May 6, 1925 – October 27, 2022
Kittie Mae Gaither, 97-year-old longtime Marietta, OK resident, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, October 27, 2022. Funeral services for Kittie will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 5, 2022, at the All Faith Christian Church in Marietta with Rev. Jerry Turner officiating. Interment will follow in the Lakeview Cemetery in Marietta. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday. Services have been entrusted to the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home of Marietta.
Kittie was born May 6, 1925, in Okmulgee, OK, the daughter of Jesse and Mayme (Barton) Miller. She attended school at Enville and later graduated with the Marietta High School Class of 1945. Kittie married Daniel Gaither on January 29, 1960, in Marietta. The two spent 52 wonderful years together before he passed in 2012.
In her younger years, Kittie was a pianist and sang soprano for a gospel quartet that traveled all over southern Oklahoma. She was a longtime member of All Faith Christian Church where she served as a pastor's wife while also serving as a daycare administrator. During her term as a pastor's wife, she wrote many of the reports and papers that were credited to her husband's master's degree from Huntsville Teacher's College in Huntsville, TX. In her spare time, Kittie enjoyed reading books and doing embroidery. But perhaps what she enjoyed most was spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Kittie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Arthur Miller; sisters, Alene Willis and Madge Miller; and a grandson, Luke Poplin.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Danny Gaither of Marietta and Danny Dvorak of Ardmore; daughters, Sherry Dvorak of Ardmore and Myrna Gaither of Marietta; six grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Casket bearers for Kittie's service are Micah Poplin, Chris Dvorak, Drew Dvorak, Jason Gaither, Stephen Ortega, and David Bell.
