Obituary

Kenneth began this life on March 1, 1938, in Marietta, the son of Kinchloe and Edna (Fuller) Peery. He grew up and attended schools in Greenville where he graduated with the Class of 1956. Soon after, Kenneth went to work at the Cookie Factory. He enlisted with the United States Army Reserve and was later called to active duty during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He served active duty for two years until he was honorably discharged. He continued his service in the Army Reserve for several more years. After returning from active duty, Kenneth went back to work for the Cookie Factory. On May 25, 1963, he married Edna Butler in Marietta. The two spent more than 60 years together.

Over the years, Kenneth enjoyed raising his cows and farming. He also enjoyed hunting and could never get enough time fishing. When he finally put down the fishing pole, you might catch him enjoying some good seafood or the next best thing…Chinese. Kenneth was a very faithful member of the Marsden Baptist Church. He never missed a Sunday, was always early to church, and he taught several Sunday School classes over the years. Kenneth had many hobbies and activities that brought him great joy, but there was nothing he cherished more than spending time with his grandchildren.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; by a brother, Richard Peery; and by a sister, Wanda Parker McGill. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Edna of the home; sons, Lanny Peery and wife Monica of Ardmore, OK and Jeff Peery and wife Tammy of Enville, OK; grandchildren, Jacob Peery and wife Jessica, Colton Peery, and Roland Peery; a soon to arrive great grandchild, Mason Ray Peery; brothers, Jerry Peery and wife Hollene of Canadian, TX and Herschel "Bub" Peery and wife Brenda of Marietta; sisters, Kay McGill and husband Denzil of Marietta, Patty Hendrix and husband Al of Marietta, and Marilyn Rice of Lone Grove, OK.

Casket bearers are Jacob Peery, Colton Peery, Roland Peery, Randy Reed, Lance Butler, and Lyndal Butler. Honorary bearers are Sonny Mobley and Red Thetford.

The family requests that those who wish to honor Kenneth's Memory through donation, please remember Gideon's International.
