Obituary

Ken began this life on September 1, 1943, in Madill, OK, the son of Ocie and Mary (Roche) Claxton. He graduated from Marietta High School with the Class of 1961. After graduating high school, Ken served his country in the United States Army at the missile base in Alvarado, TX. Over the years, he drove trucks for a few different companies. Most recently, Ken drove for Love County District #1.

Ken had some chronic heart issues and was in fact a transplant recipient. His transplant was performed on Valentine's Day and on that day, he was given a new lease on life. However, with most leases, there are terms and Ken's transplant came with projected term limits. Ken wasn't one to accept an "end date" and thus he stretched his given time frame an extra 15 years beyond what doctors gave him.

Ken loved going to garage sales and trade-days. He was both a collector and an artisan. Ken would find little trinkets that he could collect or take home to his shop and create wonderful pieces of woodworking art. He loved working and tinkering in his shop.  Ken also spent countless hours touring the countryside on his Harley-Davidson. The one thing that he probably enjoyed most was spending time with his grandchildren and following them to many of their sporting events.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents and by sisters, Donna Wood and Dixie Wood. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sandy Claxton of the home; son, Shannon Claxton and wife Jennifer of Overbrook, OK; daughter, Lonnetta Short and husband Rob Walker of Gene Autry, OK; step-son, Britt Walsh of Trenton, TX; step-daughter, Keeley Voyles and husband Ondy of Thackerville; grandchildren, Keller Claxton, Ashley Wescott, Lainey Short, Audrey Kelly, Stetson Voyles, Brayden Voyles, Landon Voyles, and Laci Voyles; nine great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Jim Wood of Overbrook; and nephew, Scotty Wood and wife Angie.
