Obituary

June F. Melendy McGehee, 91, of Madill, Oklahoma, passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2022, at her home in Madill. She was born Lou-Nell June Fair, on May 20, 1931, in Denver, Colorado to the late Victor Harrison Fair and Alma Lorena Ambler.  June was raised in Denver, Colorado, and graduated from East High in 1949.  She took classes at Emily Griffith Opportunity School and later graduated from Wilton School of Cake Decorating in Chicago as a Master Cake Decorator. June also was a charter member of the International Cake Exploration Society and enjoyed friendships around the world.  In June of 1951 she married her Air Force sweetheart David Edwin Melendy from Londonderry, Vermont.  They spent short periods of time in San Antonio, Texas and Ithica, New York, before June returned to Denver when he was sent overseas to Korea.  They were blessed with two children, Linda June Alice Roushar Ames of Madill, Oklahoma, and Victor Edwin Melendy of Grand Junction, Colorado.  Later they moved their home to Tulsa Oklahoma.  She considered herself blessed to serve Salvation Army for 20 years as Senior Citizen Coordinator.  After David's death in 1989, June married Harvey Dean McGehee from Arkansas in 1991 and they had fourteen years together. Some of her happiest years were spent singing with her guitar and fiddle playing husband, that she was so proud to be with.  They moved to Madill in 1999 and they enjoyed their Christian service, and country and western friends until his illness and death in 2005. After Harvey's passing, she served as a volunteer with Victory Home Health and Hospice at Brookside Nursing Home. June also served as an ombudsman with SODA (Southern Oklahoma Development Association) through 2019.  June accepted the Lord as Savior at the age of 12 and served actively at East Side Christian, Valley Heights Christian and Ken Southworth's Home Church in Denver.  Later she attended Victory in Tulsa.
