Jon William
Raabe
August 28, 1946 – February 2, 2026
Jon William Raabe , 79-year-old Sanger, TX resident, passed away peacefully Monday, February 2, 2026, in Sanger, TX. A celebration of Jon's life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 10, 2026, in the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home Chapel in Marietta, OK with Pastor Randy Taylor officiating.
Jon began this life on August 28, 1946, in Volga, SD the son of William and Mildred (Robinson) Raabe. He grew up on the family farm in Volga and attended schools there. Jon played football in high school and graduated with the Class of 1964. Jon married Carol (Swenson) Syverson in 1965. From this union they were blessed with two children, Chris and Anita.
Jon lived in various places like Brookings, Deadwood, Rapid City, and Rapid Valley in SD over the years as he moved from location to location in the grocery market industry. In 1979, he moved to Torrington, WY to work with Safeway. In 1985, Jon came to TX where, with exception to a brief stay in FL, he met Linda Darlene Bolds and they wed on May 27, 1997. They put down roots in Sanger, TX. Linda passed away on January 29, 2022, just four months shy of celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary.
Over the years, Jon enjoyed the great outdoors. He loved going camping as well as hunting and fishing. Jon and Linda loved gardening and processing their own fruits and vegetables. He also really enjoyed competing. He played in several men's softball leagues, bowled, shot pool and darts, and played cribbage. Jon was also very crafty and spent a great deal of time making custom picture frames for friends and family. He also made many frames that were sold at craft fairs and trade days in Sanger.
Jon was, "A jack of all trades and master of some." He was a fun-loving man with a very kind heart that took every opportunity granted to him to just sit down and visit with anyone. If you were lucky, he might even offer to share a Coke with you while encouraging you to shell his pecans.
Jon was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Linda; and sister, Myrna.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Chris Raabe and wife Karen of Denton, TX and Anita Raabe and husband Matt Hill of Brookings, SD; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; niece, LesLee Gage and husband Sean of Marietta; and a great-nephew John Lester Gage of Marietta.
Words cannot express the gratitude our family has for the exceptional care provided to Jon during his final days. The team at Red Bird Manor and the Concho Hearts Hospice acted as true angels, bringing comfort, peace, and dignity to a very difficult time.
