Joe Ronald McMeans, 82, of San Angelo, Texas, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Cedar Manor Nursing Home. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Marietta, OK.

Joe was born on August 26, 1943, in Ardmore, Oklahoma, to Fred and Mary (Cole) McMeans. He was a 1961 graduate of Marietta High School and went on to earn his bachelor's degree in education from the University of Oklahoma. He later received his master's degree in education administration from Texas A&M University–Commerce.

On July 27, 1973, Joe married Martha McAlpine in Lancaster, Texas. They shared 46 years of marriage before her passing on December 12, 2019.

Throughout his career in education, Joe was dedicated to helping students and supporting his colleagues, always valuing learning and personal growth. He was a member of Sierra Vista United Methodist Church and cherished the fellowship and faith that community brought him.

Joe was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Martha, and his parents. He is survived by his brother, Lt. Col. Dr. Monte Chris McMeans and wife Ruthie; brother-in-law, Gene McAlpine; and nieces and nephews, Christie McMeans and fiancé Alexander, Law McMeans and wife Cassidy, Wade McAlpine and wife Jennifer, Shelly McAlpine, and Lisa McAlpine.

Joe will be remembered for his kind heart, steadfast faith, and lifelong commitment to education.
