Jimmy Irwin Lemmons, age 87, of Kingston, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, April 13, 2026, at Alliance Health Hospital in Durant, Oklahoma. He was born on December 5, 1938, in Denison, Texas, to the late Dillard Wesley Lemmons and Opal Bernice Crow Lemmons. In his younger years, he lived in Brownsville, Oklahoma, which is now beneath Lake Texoma. When the lake was being built, his family was displaced and moved to a small community called Yarnaby, Oklahoma, where he attended grade school until 1951. The family later moved to Hobbs, New Mexico, where he graduated from high school in 1957. Jimmy married Virgie Lucille Drain on August 15, 1959, in Gainesville, Texas. She preceded him in death on July 1, 2009. In 1961, Jimmy moved to Dallas, Texas, where he worked for Centennial Construction for 11 years. In 1972, he left and worked for Clark Freight for three years. He later moved to Kingston, where he started his own business building homes. In 1983, he returned to Texas and went to work for T.F. Stone Companies, Inc., where he remained until his retirement after 24 years. Jimmy was a member of the Church of Christ in Kingston. He was a hardworking man who loved his cattle and took great pride in his farm.
He is survived by his son, Irwin Lee Lemmons and wife Diane of Kingston, Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Virgie; and three brothers, Tommy, Charles, and William.
