Obituary

Janith "Jan" Kaye Kerley, 71, of Ardmore, OK, was born on November 26, 1951, in Duncan, OK to James Percy and Myrtle Allene (Newman) Dodd. She passed from this life to her Heavenly home on Monday, August 28, 2023, at her residence.

Jan attended Rexroat Elementary, Wilson Elementary in Oklahoma City, Classen High School in Oklahoma City, Wilson High School in Wilson, OK and later received her GED. She believed in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and will spend eternity with Him.

She married the love of her life, Frank Lee Kerley, on December 30, 1971, in Ardmore, OK. Their marriage lasted 51 years, in good and bad, sickness and health.

Jan had numerous hobbies that she loved doing, but they were cut short in September 2018, when she had a lung transplant. She attended soccer games, marching band contests and concerts, award assemblies, and all her grandchildren's activities. She also loved singing, camping, fishing, playing cards/dominoes, crocheting, painting, reading Harlequin romance novels, making Amish bread, and the best chicken and dumplings you ever tasted. Later in her life, she loved shopping and buying things on QVC for her family and always bought things she thought her kids/grandkids would love.

Her favorite scripture was Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength."

Her favorite song was "You'll Never Walk Alone" by Elvis Presley. She is now walking with her family members that have gone on before, her parents, and a brother, Tommy Dodd.

Left to cherish Jan's memories, or as her grandchildren have called her the past 30 years, "Grandy", are her loving husband, Frank of the home; daughter, Melanie Kerley Farrell and husband Keith of Wills Point, TX; granddaughter, Alexis Farrell of Patagonia, Argentina; grandson, Samuel Farrell and fiancé Karena Crawford of Dallas, TX; sisters, Judy Nowlin and husband James of Chickasha, OK, Jeannie Nipp and husband Donnie of Wilson, OK, and Carolyn Hull of Antioch, CA; and several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, September 1, 2023, at the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home Chapel in Marietta with Jerald Lee officiating. Services are under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Marietta.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Baylor Scott and White Dallas Transplant Institute in her honor. Her transplant gave her almost 5 more years with her family and friends, and we are grateful to her donor and donor's family for making that decision. Transplants save lives and make years possible for those we love.

The family would also like to thank the staff of Elara Hospice for their wonderful care during their time spent with Jan.
