Jannet Mooniene (Collier) Stowers, 72 of Madill, Oklahoma went home to our Heavenly Father on August 8th, 2024. She passed away in Houston, Texas after battling cancer with grace, determination and bravery. Jan was born on December 13th, 1951 in Ada, Oklahoma to Pearle Mae and John Wesley Collier. She was preceded in death by her mother, Pearle Mae Joplin, father, John Collier, grandparents Theadosha and William Collier, Hazel Lois Robertson and Rubin Alfred Joplin.
She attended school at Homer, Byng High School and East Central University where she received a bachelor's degree in physical education. Jan taught school, worked as a veterinary assistant and then ultimately began a 33-year career at DHS where she retired as County Director. She loved basketball and was a member of the state championship team at Byng and then became an Oklahoma All State player. However, her true passion was anything involving horses. Jan and her sisters began trick riding as kids and developed a roman riding specialty act that they performed at rodeos around the country. She was a member of the Women's Professional Rodeo Association where she won numerous titles, including World Champion Bull Rider, Calf Roper and All- Around Cowgirl.
Jan married Richard Stowers, August 9th 1994 and together they shared their love of horses by raising, training and competing together for over 30 years. Jan is survived by her husband Richard of Madill, son Jared Easterling and wife Cassidy of Ada, stepdaughters Kimberly Gentry and husband Russ of Sulphur, Tracy White and husband Tom of Hugo, stepson Kenneth Stowers and wife Gail of Calera, stepdaughter Karen Manning and husband Brice of Lebanon, Oklahoma, stepson Kevin Stowers of Texas. She also leaves behind sisters Rena Scarbrough and husband Leonard and Debbie Eaton of Ada, niece Krista Ross of Milburn, nephews Bill Scarbrough, Tommy Eaton and wife Carrie and Ronnie Eaton of Ada and Aunt Linda Joplin of Houston. Also surviving Jan are her beloved grandchildren Case and Ella Easterling of Ada and bonus grandchildren Logan, Cole, Kinley Gentry, Bailee Boyd, Dalton Stowers and Chance Manning.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Jan's brother-in-law Douglas Stowers, wife Karen and daughter Lea Anne Bentley and husband Allan for continuous love and support.
