James Lynn
Lucas, Jr.
November 5, 1979 – May 17, 2023
James Lynn "Himer" Lucas, Jr. of Thackerville, OK was born on November 5, 1979, in Marietta, OK to James Lynn, Sr. and Carolyn Kaye (Stricklan) Lucas. He passed from this life on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at the age of 43.
James Lynn lived in Thackerville his entire life and was a graduate from the Thackerville High School Class of 1998. He achieved many things in life, but his greatest achievement has always been his four children, Danny Lynn "DL", Wade Charles "Tatter", Wyatt Adam "Skeeter", and JaLee Kaye "Rose". He loved them deeply and was very proud of each one of them.
James Lynn was self-employed as a welder, a skill taught to him by his father which to he passed on to his four children and two of his nephews, Shawn and Josh Brandle. James Lynn's talent in welding was sought after by many, including Mr. Terry Bradshaw. He took great pride in anything he did, whether it was teaching his children life skills, welding, or bull riding.
James Lynn loved the youth and adult Bull Riding/Rodeo Community. He began his bull riding journey as a young boy. He won many belt buckles, trophies, saddles, ropes, and more for his efforts. Even though his journey with bull riding was short lived-due to an injury, it didn't stop him from teaching his four children the art of bull riding.
James Lynn was a kind and sharing soul with a passion and love for all animals. No one ever knew what stray animal maybe his new cherished pet. It could be a cow, bull, raccoon, snake, wild hog, and sometimes a stray friend. James Lynn never met a stranger. He always tried to share what he had with anyone in need. "Yes ma'am" and "Yes sir" was how he addressed anyone he met. These words he used and said with great respect, another character trait he instilled in his children. James Lynn enjoyed spending time on the river fishing with his children and eating poke salad and catfish.
James Lynn was a Christian man who attended the Thackerville Community Church. He was a beloved son, brother, and father who was loved deeply by all his family. James Lynn had many faithful and forever friends who will never forget the good times they had together. His sincere love for his children, family, and friends will not be forgotten and will always remain a part of his legacy.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, DL Lucas, Tatter Lucas, Skeeter Lucas, and Rose Lucas all of Saint Jo, TX; parents, James Lynn, Sr. and Carolyn Lucas of Thackerville; brother, Nathan Lucas of New Braunfels, TX; and sister, Malinda Brandle and husband John P. of Thackerville, Missy teRiele and husband Peter of Oceanside, CA, Dena Wickware of Thackerville, Glenda McNutt and husband Arvil of Gainesville, TX, and Tammie Lynn Lucas-McConnell and husband Leo of Lancaster, CA.
