Jim" Langston
September 17, 1943 – February 28, 2022
James Elmer "Diamond Jim" Langston of Thackerville, OK passed away on Monday, February 28, 2022 in Sherman, TX at the age of 78 surrounded by his family. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2022 at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Thackerville with Johnny Reed officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, March 3rd, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Marietta, OK.
Jim was a lifelong resident of Thackerville. Born September 17, 1943, he was the third child of E.H. "Brandy" and Luna Estelle (Hudson) Langston. Shortly after high school, Jim started his 33-year career with Santa Fe Railroad as a brakeman and conductor. In 1991 he married Stephanie Edwards and they continued to make their home in Thackerville.
Jim had many hobbies through the years, but in his younger days his passion was cattle. He loved buying, raising, and selling cattle. In the later years, he found the love of traveling across the country. He also discovered he loved to cruise on the ocean and enjoyed the food on the ship. Jim enjoyed a good domino game, visiting with his family on the front porch, but his biggest joy was driving his fur baby Bonnie around town (or was she driving him around).
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Brandy and Luna Langston; a brother, Gerald Langston; infant sister, Lou Jessamine Langston; and brothers-in-law, Thurman Scivally and Buddy Hunt.
Jim is survived by his wife Stephanie and fur baby Bonnie of the home; son, Eddie Langston and wife Lana of Marietta; daughter, Dianna Langston of Kingston, OK; grandson, Brandon Langston and wife Shawna of Denton, TX; brother, Dutch Langston and wife Ann of Thackerville; sisters, Doris Scivally of Gainesville, TX and Barbara Hunt of Oregon; sister-in-law, Betty Langston of Denton; adopted sister, Tena Lee of Gainesville; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Casket bearers are Jeff Langston, Junior McLaughlin, Micah Hunt, Taylor Reed, Chuck Edwards, and Dale Scivally.
